Our Story

We Are ARuT - Uganda

Action for Rural Transformation (ARuT-Uganda) is a local, non-denominational, non-governmental organization established by a united group of passionate individuals who believe in the power of grassroots transformation. Based in Panyango Sub-county, Uganda, ARuT is dedicated to reaching vulnerable communities and addressing the root causes of poverty, inequality, and underdevelopment. We envision a rural Uganda where communities are empowered to actively participate in programs that unlock their full potential and lead to meaningful, sustainable transformation. Our mission is to promote rural development through community support, service delivery, and the strengthening of rural livelihoods — creating equal opportunities for all. Guided by the motto “Transforming Communities for a Better Livelihood,” ARuT operates on the foundation of integrity, inclusivity, and action. Our work is grounded in Uganda’s NGO legal framework, and we are committed to transparency, accountability, and lasting impact. ARuT-Uganda was first registered in 2014 and is now fully recognized as a Community-Based Organization (CBO) under registration number 1785.
